CLERMONT, Fla. – Sophomore shortstop Carly Wilson (Johnsburg HS, Ringwood, Ill.) went 5-for-5 with five RBI Saturday and Augustana scored in nine of 10 innings, downing Concordia (Minn.) 10-2 and Mitchell 12-2 at Legends Way Ballfields. Coach Kris Kistler's club wrapped up its Florida trip with a record of 5-7. Concordia fell to 3-5 on the year, while Mitchell was paying its season opener.

The Vikings return home to host the Augustana Invitational on March 25-26 at Carver Field. They're scheduled to face Ripon and Dubuque each day.

AUGUSTANA 10, CONCORDIA 2

The Vikings scored in every frame of their 10-2, five-inning victory over the Cobbers.

Concordia benefited from four walks and a passed ball to score two runs off Alaina Hofmann (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) in the top of the first. Augustana answered with three in the bottom half and never looked back. Wilson and Shelby Grandt (Broomfield HS, Broomfield, Colo.) had RBI singles and sophomore Haley Ruch (Lincoln-Way North HS, Frankfort, Ill.) drove in a run with a groundout.

Wilson knocked in senior Amanda Ebert (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) with a triple in the second and the Vikings extended the lead to 6-2 with two runs in the third. Junior Zayne Blumberg (Rock Canyon HS, Denver, Colo.) squeezed in a run and another scored when junior Lauren Severson (Morris HS, Morris, Ill.) reached on an error.

Augustana struck for three more in the fourth. Bases-loaded walks to Grandt and Hofmann each forced in a run and Kelsey Heiland (Mountain Vista HS, Highlands Ranch, Colo.) drove in another with a sacrifice fly to center.

Hofmann singled in sophomore Rachel Anderson (Rochester HS, Rochester, Ill.) in the fifth to end the game early.

Hofmann settled in and fired four scoreless innings after the first. She allowed two hits, issued nine walks and fanned four, improving to 4-1 on the year. Kendra Spindler went the distance for the Cobbers and took the loss. Wilson went 3-for-3 with the runs scored and two driven in. Anderson was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Hofmann 2-for-2 with two knocked in.

AUGUSTANA 12, MITCHELL 2

Hofmann singled in Anderson in the top of the first, but the Mariners took the lead with two off Grandt in the bottom half. Sophomore Kelcie Fredrickson (Fisher HS, Foosland, Ill.) relieved Grandt with none out and after walking Danielle Autieri to load the bases, fanned two straight and coaxed a groundout to end the inning.

The Vikings retook the lead with three in the second. Senior Ashley Klauss (Trinity HS, Chicago, Ill.) had a leadoff single and scored the tying run on Anderson's RBI groundout. Wilson drove in the other two runs with a triple to center.

Hannah Bulgart's (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) two-run single was the big hit in a six-run Augustana third and freshman Alyssa Klahn's (Lincoln-Way Central, New Lenox, Ill.) two-run single in the fifth knocked in classmate Dina Falk (Lake Park HS, Bloomingdale, Ill.) and sophomore Taylor Belo (Jacobs HS, Algonquin, Ill.) to complete the scoring.

Fredrickson (1-3) was outstanding, going five scoreless innings. She allowed just one hit—a second-inning double by Samantha DelConte—and fanned 10 to pick up her first career win. Mitchell starter Suzanne Vachon lasted just one inning and suffered the loss.

Wilson again paced the offense, going 2-for-2 with three RBI. Anderson was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two batted in and Klauss finished 2-for-3 with two scored and one knocked in.
