Senior Anne Hopkins scored four goals and dished out seven assists
Saturday as Augustana defeated Albion 17-10 at Thorson-Lucken Field.

Anne Hopkins (Mother McAuley HS, Chicago, Ill.) and
Olivia Mayer (Libertyville HS, Green Oaks, Ill.) combined to score 10 goals and dish out nine assists Saturday and lead Augustana to a 17-10 win over Albion at Thorson-Lucken Field. The Vikings broke open a close game in the second half to improve to 2-4 on the season. The Britons slipped to 0-4.
Augustana jumped in front 4-0 in the first seven and a half minutes. Mayer tallied the first two Vikings goals, one of which was assisted by Hopkins. The two would team up for a total of five goals on the day. Hopkins scored to make it 3-0 and assisted on an

(Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) goal, Augustana's fourth of the day.
Scoreless until the 13:00 minute mark of the first half, Albion scored four goal in a span of two and a half minutes to tie it. Taylor Nelson had two of the Briton tallies.
Christina McCabe (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) and
Bailey Aasen (Park HS, Cottage Grove, Minn.) stemmed the tide with goals 16 second apart, but Cait Gailey's second goal of the game 1:05 before halftime drew Albion to within 6-5 at the break.
The hosts broke the game open by scoring the first eight goals of the second half. Goals by Aasen and
Carla Bennett (Marian Catholic HS, South Holland, Ill.) bookended three each by Mayer and Hopkins and the Vikings led 14-5 with 14 minutes left.
Five different Britons scored in a five minute span to get Albion as close as 15-10, but Hopkins fed Mayer for one more goal and Aasen scored off a feed from Bennett to complete the day's scoring.
For the second straight game, Hopkins equaled the second-highest point total in program history with 11. She scored four goals and her seven assists also tied the second-best single-game total in Augustana history. Mayer finished with six goals and two assists and Aasen added four goals. (Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) led with three caused turnovers.
Analia Fowler (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) played the first 46 minutes in goal, recording seven saves and giving up five goals. She got the win to improve to 2-3 on the year. Jenina Villabroza made 10 saves for the Britons.
The Vikings outshout the visitors 29-23 and controlled 19 of 28 draws. Albion had a 21-19 advantage in ground balls.
Coach C.J. Durham's squad will be in action next on March 22 in a 4:00 p.m. contest at Aurora.
