Sunday, as Augustana and Carroll played to a 0-0 tie at Thorson-
Lucken Field.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – 110 minutes weren't enough to decide a winner Sunday, as Augustana and Carroll played to a scoreless draw on a blustery, chilly afternoon at Thorson-Lucken Field. Coach Scott Mejia's Vikings moved to 7-5-1 on the year and 2-1-1 in CCIW play. The visiting Pioneers finished the day 9-3-2 overall and 1-1-2 in the league.

The match was evenly played throughout, with few serious scoring threats mounted by either side. Carroll put six of its 13 shots on frame, while Augustana took 12 shots, four of which were on goal. The Pioneers finished with an 8-6 advantage in corners. The Vikings were called for 11 fouls to nine for the visitors and each side was whistled for a pair of offsides.

Each team took four shots in the first half and put two on frame. The match's first shot on goal came from senior Grace Iaquinta (Lincoln East HS, Lincoln, Neb.) in the 23rd minute and was turned away by Carroll keeper Christina O'Block. Augustana freshman Sydney Ion (Aquinas HS, La Crosse, Wis.) recorded a save on a Delaney Pruitt shot in the 41st minute to keep the contest scoreless at the half.

The shots were dead even at 10 apiece at the end of regulation and 12 each after one extra session. The Pioneers got off the only attempt of the second overtime. Ion's save on a Pruitt shot in minute 109 assured a scoreless final.

Pruitt put three of five shots on frame in the match. Junior Jordyn Sundberg (Aurora Central Catholic HS, Oswego, Ill.) put both of her attempts on goal for the Vikings.

Ion finished with six saves in her second shutout of the season. She is now 3-4-1 on the year. O'Block stopped four Augustana shots.

The Vikings are back at Thorson-Lucken on Wednesday, October 18, hosting Wheaton at 5:00 p.m. as part of a women's/men's doubleheader versus the Thunder.
