Scott Mejia's Vikings, who allowed more than one goal for the first time this season, dropped to 5-3.
The hosts took the lead in the 22nd minute. Jenna McKinney scored her sixth goal of the season off an assist from Sophia Kim.
Against a unit that had surrendered just two goals in seven previous matches this year, Augustana hung within one score until the 71st minute. That's when Chicago's Mia Calamari drilled a shot just under the crossbar for her third goal of the season and a 2-0 lead.
In the 78th minute, McKinney tallied her eighth of the season to provide her team with more insurance. Caroline Olivero assisted on the play.
The Maroons held a 30-3 advantage in shots for the match, putting 15 attempts on frame to two for the Vikings. Augustana keeper
Bailey Bradford (Deerfield HS, Riverwoods, Ill.) was credited with a season-high 12 saves. Chicago had an 8-0 edge in corners.
The Vikings will open College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin play on Wednesday, September 28 at Elmhurst. Kickoff for that match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
