Freshman Daniel Artman put a pair of shots on frame Wednesday, but Augustana lost 1-0 at
Wisconsin-Platteville.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Logan Rinderknecht's goal in the 34th minute Wednesday was the only one of the match and allowed Wisconsin-Platteville to walk away a 1-0 winner over Augustana at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. UWP improved to 7-2 on the year, while the Vikings dropped to 2-5.
The only goal of the night came on a long free kick off the foot of Bryan Hart. Rinderknecht slipped behind an Augustana defender and his shot beat keeper
Corey Mankins (Marysville HS, Marysville, Ohio) to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. Platteville finished the half with an 8-2 margin in shots and took a whopping nine corners to two for the Vikings.
The Pioneers enjoyed a 9-5 shot advantage in the second half and 17-7 for the match. Corners ended up 11-3 in favor of UWP.
Will Seehawer played the first half in goal for Platteville and recorded saves on a pair of
Daniel Artman (Schaumburg HS, Hanover Park, Ill.) shots. Nate Miller played the second half and turned away two attempts by
Michael Brazinski (Plainfield East HS, Plainfield, Ill.). Mankins was credited with two saves for Augustana.
On Saturday, September 24, Augustana hosts Robert Morris-Springfield at Thorson-Lucken Field in a match scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
