Men's soccer has two-game winning streak snapped at Simpson

Keeper Corey Mankins recorded nine saves Sunday, but Augustana fell 3-0 at Simpson.

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Darius Doswell scored a pair of goals Sunday afternoon as Simpson snapped Augustana's two-game winning streak, downing the Vikings 3-0 at Buxton Stadium. The visitors dropped to 2-4 on the season while the host Storm improved to 4-2-1.
 
Garrett Pochop put Simpson on top in the second minute, finding an open net from five yards away for his eighth goal of the season.
 
In the ninth minute, Doswell tallied his third goal of the season. Receiving an assist from Donevan Roe, he put his shot from the right wing past Augustana keeper Corey Mankins (Marysville HS, Marysville, Ohio) and inside the far post for a 2-0 Storm lead.
 
That's the way the half would end. Simpson compiled a 13-2 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corners during the opening 45 minutes.
 
Doswell's second goal of the match and fourth of the season made it 3-0 in the 67th minute. Roe and Pochop were each credited with an assist on the play.
 
The Storm finished the afternoon with advantages of 25-4 in shot and 13-1 in corners. Mankins recorded nine saves. Simpson keeper Chris Harris was not credited with a save, as the Vikings failed to put  shot on frame.
 
On Wednesday, September 21, Augustana will be on the road at Wisconsin-Platteville. The Vikings and Pioneers are scheduled to kick the match off at 7:00 p.m.
