Elmhurst's Matt Westhaver opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 8:50 mark of the first quarter. Augustana freshman Nick Gallo
(Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) tied it, converting a
Jonathan Bryk (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) assist with just 36 seconds left in the period. However, Dan Curley scored for the Bluejays just seven seconds before the horn and Elmhurst led 2-1 after one.
Tyler Dailey and Westhaver sandwiched Bluejay goals around one by
Brady Welvaert (Holmen HS, Holmen, Wis.) and the hosts led 4-2 just past the midway point of the second quarter. Goals by junior

Scott Davis (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, Overland Park, Kan.) tied it at four and Gallo scored with 3:39 left in the half to give Augustana a 5-4 lead at the break.
