as Augustana rolled past Dubuque 20-7 on Saturday, April 16.DUBUQUE, Iowa – A dominating offensive performance helped Augustana to a 20-7 win over Dubuque in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin men's lacrosse action on Saturday, April 16 in Dubuque, Iowa. The Vikings moved their overall record to 8-5 and went to 2-0 in the CCIW with their fourth consecutive victory and eighth in their last nine outings.
Augustana launched 58 shots in the game, including 23 in the decisive second quarter when head coach
Dan Torie's team broke open the game with six goals. By the end of the game the Vikings held a huge 58-22 edge in shots attempted.
Freshman
Erick Krall (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) got Augustana going with an unassisted goal just over three minutes into the game (11:52 of the first). Dubuque tied the game with a goal by Michael Julius at 10:41 but the Vikings got a goal from freshman
Nick Gallo (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) off an assist by senior
Kevin Gleason (Loyola Academy, Chicago, Ill.) at 7:19 to take the lead for good. Senior
Alexander Crescenti (Jacobs HS, Algonquin, Ill.) tallied off an assist from junior
Jared Hawkins (Everett HS, Everett, Wash.) at 6:46 to make it 3-1.
The home standing Spartans narrowed the gap to 3-2 with a goal by Joseph Furnstahl at 5:03. Following Furnstahl's goal, however, the Augustana offense took over. The Vikings scored the next 10 goals, four straight to end the first period and six in the second to take a commanding 13-3 lead at halftime.
Senior
Scott Davis (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, Overland Park, Kan.) had four goals during that stretch and Crescenti and Gleason tallied two apiece. Senior

Cam MacKenzie (St. Charles North HS, St. Charles, Ill.) scored the last two goals of the half to make it 13-3.
Dubuque scored the first three goals of the third quarter to draw within 13-5 but a goal by sophomore
John Danko (Lockport HS, Lockport, Ill.) off a Gleason assist at 3:03 and a Gleason marker from Bryk at 2:22 pushed the Viking lead to 15-5 heading into the fourth quarter.
Freshman
Lee Whorwell (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) scored twice to open the fourth stanza and Danko, junior
Luke Burrow (Noblesville HS, Noblesville, Ind.) and freshman
Adam Borgetti (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) closed out the scoring for Augustana.

Jack Peters (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) picked up the win in goal after working 45 minutes and collecting four saves. Senior Jerell Collymore
(Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Flossmoor, Ill.) won 10 of 13 face-offs. The Vikings were a perfect 11 of 11 in clear attempts and only turned the ball over 13 times compared to 22 for Dubuque.
