Freshman shortstop Carly Wilson had three hits Sunday in Augustana's doubleheader setback
at North Park.

CHICAGO, Ill. – Augustana left a total of 28 runners on base Sunday, dropping a doubleheader at North Park by scores of 3-1 and 10-2. The visiting Vikings left 14 on in each game and fell to 13-17 on the season and 3-5 in the CCIW. The host Vikings improved to 5-20 on the year and 2-4 in the conference. Coach Kris Kistler's club will try and bounce back when it hosts a doubleheader versus Millikin on Sunday, April 17.

NORTH PARK 3, AUGUSTANA 1

Augustana's missed opportunities stung the most in the opener. Starter Ashley Anderson (Sherrard HS, Viola, Ill.) shut the hosts out for four innings. She led 1-0 going to the bottom of the fifth, when a leadoff walk and Amara Leith's two-out double to center tied it. Consecutive singles brought in two more runs as NPU went up 3-1.

The visitors managed just one base runner in the last two innings against Katy Ortinau, who went the final three frames to pick up the win.

Augustana had a runner thrown out at the plate and left the bags full against North Park starter Leith in the top of the first.

Kistler's crew got its only run in the second inning, when sophomore Haylie Arndt (Lockport HS, Lockport, Ill.) stroked a one-out single to left and came around to score on sister Jordan Arndt's (Lockport HS, Lockport, Ill.) two-out double to left. The Vikings stranded two in the inning.

Leith marooned two more Vikings in the third and escaped another bases-loaded jam in the fourth before moving to right field in favor of Ortinau. The reliever worked out of her own bases-loaded predicament in the fifth inning.

Anderson threw her 14th complete game of the season and suffered her ninth loss against eight victories. Freshman Carly Wilson (Johnsburg HS, Ringwood, Ill.) and Jordan Arndt each had a pair of hits.

NORTH PARK 10, AUGUSTANA 2

After North Park—the designated visitor in the nightcap—plated a run off senior Kendra Rakers (Belleville West HS, Millstadt, Ill.) in the top of the first, Augustana again left the bags full in the bottom of the frame.

Augustana took its only lead of game two with a pair of runs in the third. Rakers led off with a single to right and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Jordan Arndt put her Vikings on top with an RBI single later in the frame.

North Park tied it with a run in the top of the fourth and—after Augustana left the bases loaded for the fifth time on the afternoon—jumped on top with five in the fifth. Simone Carroll's three-run homer was the big blow.

NPU added two in the sixth and one in the seventh to pull away.

Rakers went six innings and took the loss, falling to 2-4 on the season. She went 2-for-2 at the plate. Ortinau started, went 2 2/3 innings and was credited with her second victory of the day.
