ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Albion outscored Augustana 8-1 in the second half Saturday, wiping out a 7-2 halftime deficit to post a 10-8 win at Thorson-Lucken Field. The Vikings saw their four-game winning streak snapped and are now 4-5 on the season. The Britons won their third straight to improve to 3-4.

Zach Hubbell's unassisted goal less than a minute into the third quarter drew Albion to within 7-3 and David Dirado scored his 11th of the year off a Cameron Braun assist with 6:53 to play in the period to cut the deficit to three. Augustana senior Jonathan Bryk (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) parlayed a Nick Zielinski (Huntley HS, Huntley, Ill.) assist into a goal to stem the tide temporarily, but Braun answered at the 3:00 mark and the Vikings' lead was trimmed to 8-5 after three quarters.

It took less than four minutes into the fourth for the Britons to catch Augustana. Goals by Hubbell and Braun made it 8-8 with 11:19 to play. Hubbell scored his fourth goal of the game on a man advantage at the 9:44 mark to give Albion the lead. Dylan Neal's man-up goal at 8:41 provided insurance and Hubbell capped the scoring with his 12th tally of the year at the 2:40 mark.

The Vikings got off to a hot start. Freshman Nick Gallo (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) got the hosts on the board with an unassisted goal at 8:26 of the first and junior Jared Hawkins (Everett HS, Everett, Wash.) scored on a man advantage 23 seconds later to make it 2-0. Gallo assisted on Hawkins' goal.

After senior Scott Davis (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, Overland Park, Kan.) and Briton Dylan Neal traded goals, Augustana scored three straight to go up 6-1. Hawkins found the net off a Tyler Amidei (Vernon Hills HS, Vernon Hills, Ill.) assist to make it 4-1 after one and then assisted on an Alexander Crescenti (Jacobs HS, Algonquin, Ill.) goal to start the second. Davis added the Vikings' third consecutive tally off a Gallo assist. Both Crescenti's and Davis' goals came with Augustana a man up.

The teams went nearly 12 minutes without a score until Hubbell made it 6-2 with an assist from Neal 54 seconds before halftime. Freshman Lee Whorwell (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) scored with 11 seconds left to send the hosts to the locker room leading 7-2.

Davis and Hawkins scored twice and Gallo recorded a pair of assists for the Vikings. Hubbell finished with five goals for Albion. Augustana senior Jack Peters (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) made six saves on the afternoon, while his counterpart for the Britons, Brad Bogus, was credited with 14.

The Vikings ended up with a 32-27 advantage in shots, but it was 19-11 in favor of Albion in the second half. The Britons had slight edges of 31-29 in ground balls and 11-10 in faceoffs. Augustana committed 20 turnovers to 18 for Albion.
