on Wednesday, February 10 has been designated "Hoops4Heart" in
order to support the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women
month. A "bucket run" at halftime will generate funds for the cause.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Action at the Augustana/Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball game on Wednesday, February 10 promises will not slow down when the two teams leave the court at halftime of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin contest. While the teams are in the locker room the Augustana athletic department will sponsor a "bucket run" through the bleachers of the Carver Center to raise money for the American Heart Association.

The game has been designated "Hoops4Heart" and is part of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women month. The "bucket run" will feature members of the Augustana cheerleading squad, and women's athletic teams. It will consist of the team members running up and down the Carver bleachers for 80 seconds with red buckets in hand, collecting money from the spectators at the game. The 80 seconds is used to signify that heart disease kills one woman every 80 seconds in the United States.

There will be a concession table in the Carver lobby where the patrons can purchase their favorite red candy. Also available will be other merchandise from the American Heart Association. All proceeds will go to the "Go Red for Women" campaign.

The Vikings and the Titans will square off at 7:00 p.m. in the Carver Center in a crucial CCIW contest. Augustana is in sole possession of first place in the CCIW with a 10-1 record and is 21-1 overall and ranked second in NCAA Division III. Illinois Wesleyan is 11-11 overall and 5-6 in conference play.
