Senior Hannah Lohmeier got Augustana started Saturday,
scoring her fifth goal of the season as the Vikings cruised
to a 3-0 win at Millikin.
DECATUR, Ill. – Augustana defeated Millikin 3-0 Saturday at Lindsay Field. The Vikings improved to 8-7 on the season and 2-4 in the CCIW, while the host Big Blue dropped to 8-6-1 overall and 2-4 in the league.
In the ninth minute, senior
Hannah Lohmeier (Waunakee HS, Waunakee, Wis.) finished off a free kick from near midfield to give Augustana a 1-0 lead. The goal was Lohmeier's fifth on the season, tying her for the team lead.
Four minutes later, freshman
Allison Harvey (Wheaton Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.) extended the advantage to 2-0, scoring on a header off a
Brianne Frys (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) free kick. The goal was Harvey's second of the year and Frys logged her team-leading seventh assist on the play.
The first half ended with the Vikings on top 2-0.
In the 79th minute, junior
Sammi Farkos (Homewood-Floosmoor HS, Flossmoor, Ill.) made it 3-0 with her fourth goal of the season.
Augustana finished with a 23-6 edge in shots, putting 15 on frame to just three for Millikin. The Big Blue took five corners to two for the Vikings.
Junior keeper
Bailey Bradford (Deerfield HS, Riverwoods, Ill.) recorded three saves in her fifth shutout of the season. Millikin's Kaitlyn Garza was credited with 11 saves in 79 minutes before yielding to Anna Benvenuto, who stopped one shot in her 11 minutes.
