The first score of the night came when Whitewater's Sam Novak had his throw-in deflected into the Viking goal. The tally was credited as a team goal for the Warhawks.
The hosts added three goals in a span of five and a half minutes later in the period. Alex Whiteman scored his fourth and fifth of the season in the 28th and 32nd minute, respectively. Dylan Hottsmith assisted on Whiteman's first of the night. The second came off a Kyle Clancy corner. Both Clancy and Novak were credited with assists on the play.
Less than a minute later, Taylor Ortiz made it 4-0 with his third goal of the season. Jordan Wilkins got the assist.
Just seconds before halftime, the Warhawks served the ball toward the Augustana goal, where it was again deflected in for a UWW team goal.

Gabriel Brouillette (Carmel HS, Mundelein, Ill.) in the 57th minute.
UWW had an 18-10 advantage in shots in the match as well as a 2-1 edge in corners. Augustana freshman
Matt Hesch (St. Edward HS, Elgin, Ill.), seeing his first action of the year, went the distance in goal, recording three saves. His counterparts for the Warhawks, Alex Buchman and Chris Lucatorto, each played a half, totaling two saves.
The Vikings are back at Thorson-Lucken Field on Sunday, September 27, hosting Wisconsin-Platteville in a 1:00 p.m. match.
