Senior Gabe Brouillette scored his first goal of the season Tuesday in Augustana's
3-1 win over Monmouth at Thorson-Lucken Field.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Senior back Adam Witucki (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.) came on in the 61st minute Tuesday and assisted on go-ahead and insurance goals in Augustana's 3-1 win over Monmouth at Thorson-Lucken Field. Coach Mick Regan's squad improved to 3-3 on the season, while the Fighting Scots fell to 1-4.

With the match tied at 1-1 in the 64th minute, a Witucki throw-in from the right side led to a goal by sophomore Adam Buric (Notre Dame Prep, Scottsdale, Ariz.). The goal was Buric's first of the season.

The Vikings added some insurance in the 75th minute. Witucki's throw from the left side was headed on goal by senior Anthony D'Angelo (Stevenson HS, Buffalo Grove, Ill.). Monmouth keeper Charles Stroud got a piece of it, but senior Gabriel Brouillette (Carmel HS, Mundelein, Ill.) was there to follow up with his first goal of the year. Both Witcuki—who returned after missing the last three contests with an injury—and D'Angelo were credited with assists on the play.

Augustana was forced to come from behind in the match. The Scots took the lead in the sixth minute when Zeb Soignier fed a pass ahead to a streaking Luke Vandenberg. Vandenberg finished off the play for his first goal of the season.

In the 20th minute, the Vikings got the equalizer on a Michael Brazinski (Plainfield East HS, Plainfield, Ill.) penalty kick. The junior beat Stroud with a shot to the upper right corner.

Augustana had advantages of 16-10 in shots, 8-2 in shots on goal and 11-6 in corners. Freshman keeper Jeff Bell (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) was credited with one save and Stroud with five.

On Saturday, September 19, Regan takes his team to St. Louis, Missouri to face Webster in a 1:00 p.m. match.
