in 2015 for the seventh time in his career.

For the seventh time in an illustrious career at Augustana, head coach Grey Giovanine has been named Illinois Division III "Coach of the Year" by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. The honor came after Giovanine led the Vikings to the NCAA Division III Final Four with a 27-5 overall record.

The Vikings advanced to the national championship game in Salem, Virginia before falling to Wisconsin-Stevens Point by a score of 70-54. Augustana won the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin with an 11-3 mark and took the conference tournament with a 78-74 win over Illinois Wesleyan in the championship game.

Giovanine, who was named "National Coach of the Year" by Basketball Times this year, won IBCA "Coach of the Year" honors in 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011 before winning again this season.  He was also D3hoops.com Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2011.

Giovanine has put together a 311-121 (.720) record in 16 seasons at Augustana. He has guided the Vikings to CCIW titles in 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2015 and conference tournament championships in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2015.

His six regular season titles tie him for third-most in the history of the league and he is the only coach to win four CCIW tournament titles. His winning percentage in conference play is .674, highest among active coaches and fifth all-time among coaches with more than five seasons of action. He was named the CCIW's "Coach of the Year" in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011 and again in 2015.

Giovanine is just three victories shy of tying Jim Borcherding (314-99 from 1969-84) as the winningest coach in Augustana history
