ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Junior Scott Davis (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, Overland Park, Kan.) scored six goals Saturday, including game-tying and go-ahead tallies in the final six and a half minutes, as Augustana defeated Elmhurst 15-13 on Senior Day at Thorson-Lucken Field. The Vikings improved to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in the CCIW, while the Bluejays fell to 6-8 on the year and 1-3 in the league.

Augustana led 12-10 with 10 minutes to play, but Elmhurst scored three straight goals in a span of three minutes to take the lead.

Davis tied it at 13-all on an unassisted goal with 6:27 to play and scored off a Kevin Gleason (Loyola Academy, Chicago, Ill.) assist three minutes later to put the hosts on top. An unassisted goal by freshman Nick Zielinski (Huntley HS, Huntley, Ill.) provided some insurance. Junior goalkeeper Jack Peters (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) recorded his ninth save of the night with just over a minute to play, preserving the win.

It was all Bluejays early, as the visitors scored the game's first five goals, including two by Tyler Dailey.

Davis finally got the Vikings on the board with 2:21 to play in the first period. His goal started a string of nine straight scores for Augustana. Zielinski opened the second quarter with a pair of tallies and closed the first-half scoring with another as the Vikings led 7-5 at the break.

Gleason and Davis completed the nine-goal run, scoring early in the second half and giving Augustana its largest lead at 9-5. Elmhurst responded by scoring five of the next six, however, to tie it at 10-all after three periods. Davis and sophomore Jared Hawkins each had a goal early in the fourth before the Bluejays scored three in a row to go up 13-12.

In addition to Davis' half dozen, Zielinski scored four goals. Gleason found the net twice and had a team-high four assists. Hawkins had two goals and two assists and sophomore J.P. Palasek (Montini Catholic HS, Wheaton, Ill.) had three helpers.

Peters led the Vikings with six ground balls, while Zielinski collected four. Senior Colin Haley (St. Charles East HS, St. Charles, Ill.) had a game-high three caused turnovers.

In addition to Haley, Augustana also honored seniors Ty Benson (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.), Brad Anderson (Arrowhead HS, Hartland, Wis.), Jeremy Gottardo (Jacobs HS, Algonquin, Ill.), Ryan Nakamoto (Central HS, Naperville, Ill.), Vincent Giglierano (Archbishop Mitty, San Jose, Calif.), Evan Chikeles (Hoffman Estates HS, Hoffman Estates, Ill.), Mike McAleer (Downers Grove South HS, Bolingbrook, Ill.), Jon Pape (Hoffman Estates HS, Hoffman Estates, Ill.) and Jake Self (Marina HS, Huntington Beach, Calif.).
