The freshman duo of
Samuel Totten (University HS, Normal, Ill.) and
Eric Pohl (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) posted an 8-4 win over Josh Ward and Karl Wenzel at number one doubles. Senior
Lawrence Palmer (Schiller International School, El Prat de Llobregat, Spain) and junior
Harald Olsson (Hersby Gymnasium, Stockholm, Sweden) fell 8-3 to Justin Ancona and Matt Steiner at number two and Derek Mumaw and Brent Westergren downed junior Autin Schoeck
(Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) and sophomore
Connor Woolf (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) 9-7 at number three.
In singles play, Palmer was a6-2, 5-7, 7-6 winner over Ward at number one. Ancona defeated Totten 7-5, 6-1 at number two and Steiner won three and love over Pohl at number three. Lincoln Metz defeated junior
Patrick Lenz (Villanova Prep, Ojai, Calif.) 7-6, 6-4 at fourth singles. Woolf and Schoeck were winnings at number fife and six, respectively. Woolf beat Wenzel 6-1, 6-2 and Schoeck bested Mumaw 6-4 and 7-5.
Next up for Miedema's squad is an 11:00 a.m. dual at Grinnell on Sunday, April 12.
