LEXINGTON, Ky. – Augustana scored the game's last seven goals Sunday, winning its fifth straight game, 8-2 over Huntingdon in a neutral site contest hosted by Transylvania University. Coach Kyle Hart's team improves to 7-2 on the season, while the Hawks fall to 2-9.

Huntingdon's Jakob Works scored the only goal of the first quarter, an unassisted tally with 1:28 left in the period. Senior Colin Haley (St. Charles East HS, St. Charles, Ill.) scored off an assist from junior Kevin Gleason (Loyola Academy, Chicago, Ill.) early in the second to tie it at 1-1, but Brandon Sewell's unassisted goal two minutes later put the Hawks back on top. That would be the last time Huntingdon would get one past Viking goalie Jack Peters (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.)

Freshman John Danko (Lockport HS, Lockport, Ill.) used a Jonathan Bryk (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) assist halfway through the second period, scoring to tie it once more and sophomore J.P. Palasek (Montini Catholic HS, Wheaton, Ill.) gave Augustana the lead for good with an unassisted goal with 2:17 to play before halftime.

The Vikings still led just 3-2 after a scoreless third quarter, but broke it open in the fourth. Gleason scored twice on a man advantage early in the period. His goals were sandwiched around one at even strength by sophomore Jared Hawkins (Everett HS, Everett, Wash.) and pushed the Augustana lead to 6-2. Freshman Nick Zielinski (Huntley HS, Huntley, Ill.) assisted on another Gleason score with 4:32 to play and again on a Danko tally with 37 seconds left that completed the scoring.

Gleason finished with three goals and an assist. Danko found the net twice and Zielinski's two assists were a team high. Zielinski, Haley and freshman McKay Potter (Hudson HS, Hudson, Wis.) each collected two ground balls and Potter won five faceoffs. Peters stood out again in goal, recording seven saves.

The Vikings outshot Huntingdon 37-15, snared 18 ground balls to 15 for the Hawks and turned the ball over just 10 times to 17 for Huntingdon.

Hart's squad is back in action on Saturday, March 28, traveling to Albion, Michigan for a 1:00 p.m. game against the Britons.
