Tuesday night as Augustana defeated Cornell 17-2 at Thorson-Lucken Field.ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana bolted to leads of 7-0 after one period and 12-0 at the half Tuesday and went on to defeat Cornell by a score of 17-2 at Thorson-Lucken Field. The Vikings improve to 6-2 on the season, while the Rams fall to 1-3.
Juniors
Scott Davis (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, Overland Park, Kan.) and
Jonathan Bryk (Palatine HS, Palatine, Ill.) and freshman
John Danko (Lockport HS, Lockport, Ill.) all scored in a span of 44 seconds to put the hosts up 3-0 less than three minutes into the game. Junior
Kevin Gleason (Loyola Academy, Chicago, Ill.) assisted on Davis' goal, while Bryk's and Danko's were unassisted.
Gleason scored twice in succession just 34 seconds apart and Augustana led 5-0 with the first period barely half over. Davis returned the earlier favor and assisted on Gleason's second tally.
Freshman
Hayden Holland (Owatonna HS, Owatonna, Minn.) recorded his first assist of the season on Davis' 16th goal of the year and Bryk found the net to put the Vikings up 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Gleason added another goal—his 16th of the season—in the second quarter. Danko scored twice and seniors
Vincent Giglierano (Archbishop Mitty HS, San Jose, Calif.) and
Mike McAleer (Downers Grove South HS, Bolingbrook, Ill.) added goals to make it 12-0 at halftime.
Four different Vikings scored Augustana's five second-half goals as Coach
Kyle Hart went deep into his bench. McAleer scored his second of the night. Junior
Andrew Miller (Waukesha North HS, Waukesha, Wis.) found the net twice and junior
Kyle Doner (Peak to Peak Academy, Erie, Colo.) and sophomore J.P. Palasek
(Montini Catholic HS, Wheaton, Ill.) each scored for the first time this season. Michael Paquette and Carlos Siguenza scored Cornell's goals late in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

Jack Peters (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) went the first 30 minutes in goal, stopping all seven shots that he faced. He was relieved by freshman

Jon Pape (Hoffman Estates HS, Hoffman Estates, Ill.) in the second half.
Gleason and Danko finished with three goals each, with Bryk, Davis, McAleer and Miller adding two apiece. Palasek's two assists were a team high. Junior
