Junior Danny Lattner had five receptions for 125 yards and two
touchdowns Saturday as Augustana defeated Millikin 42-10 in
Decatur, Illinois.

DECATUR, Ill. – Senior Sam Frasco (Prospect HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another Saturday and freshman Ryan Pitra (Geneseo HS, Geneseo, Ill.) and junior Danny Lattner (Fenwick HS, Riverside, Ill.) also had big offensive days, as Augustana closed out the 2015 season with a 42-10 win at Millikin. The Vikings wrap up Coach Steve Bell's first season with a 4-6 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the CCIW. The host Big Blue finish the year at 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the league.

While Millikin did a nice job of controlling Frasco on the ground, he hurt the Big Blue all day with his arm. On Augustana's second possession, he completed three of four passes including a 28-yard touchdown toss to Lattner that capped a six-play, 53-yard drive and put the Vikings up 7-0 with Jacob Stytz's (Minooka, HS, Channahon, Ill.) point after.

The Big Blue answered with a six-play, 53-yard march to tie it late in the first quarter. Nicco Stepina found Brady Cufaude from six yards out for the touchdown.

It was all Vikings from there, as Frasco's four-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter put them up for good at 14-7. Minutes later, it looked like Augustana would miss out on another golden opportunity. Freshman Dario Ingardona (Rockford Lutheran HS, Cherry Valley, Ill.) picked off a Stepina pass and returned it 53 yards, but fumbled the ball back to Millikin at its own five-yard line. However, sophomore linebacker Grant Burke (Hersey HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) came through just three plays later, snaring another Stepina offering and taking it six yards to the end zone for a 21-7 Viking lead.

The Big Blue's next drive reached the Augustana 12, but the Vikings held on downs and the score remained 21-7 at intermission.

The lead was extended to 28-7 on the first possession of the second half. Frasco and Lattner connected again, this time from 53 yards out to cap a five-play 82-yard drive.

After a 27-yard field goal by Millikin's Chayce Volpert stemmed the tide temporarily, Frasco hit senior Sean Fitzgerald (Providence Catholic HS, Manhattan, Ill.) for a six-yard scoring strike early in the fourth quarter. He added another six-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Brandon Leggett (San Juan Hills HS, San Antonio, Texas) later in the period to account for the final.

Frasco finished the day 13 of 16 through the air for 197 yards and four touchdowns. Lattner grabbed five of those tosses for 125 yards and  pair of scores. Pitra powered the ground game with 170 yards on 24 carries.

The Augustana defense, led by Jack Asquini's (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) eight tackles, held the Big Blue to 235 total yards and recorded four interceptions. In addition to the picks by Ingardona and Burke,  senior Frank Kalble (Hersey HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) had one, as did sophomore Travon Aldridge (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.).
