Jonathan Colucci (Glenbard North HS, Carol Stream, Ill.) found the net as well, as he, Gustafson and four others were honored on Senior Day. The Vikings finish the year with a 5-13-1 record and a 2-5 mark in the CCIW. The Big Blue fell to 10-7 overall and 1-6 in the league.
Brazinksi got the hosts on the board in the 11th minute, scoring off an assist from Colucci.
Millikin answered with a pair of goals in quick succession. In the 22nd minute, Hunter Somers fed a pass ahead to Oliver Czopek, who beat Augustana keeper
Jeff Bell (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) for his second goal of the season. A minute later, Ben Spelman started a Big Blue counter by finding Zach Solorio, who scored his sixth goal of the season to give his team a 2-1 lead.
Augustana went back on top with two goals late in the first half. In the 41st minute, another of the day's recognized seniors,
Adam Witucki (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.), played a ball from the right side to Colucci 15 yards out straight on. Colucci got a touch to Brazinski, who scored his second goal of the day and sixth of the season to level the match at 2-2.
Then, just 10.1 seconds before halftime, Gustafson headed in a corner by freshman
Samuel Kratzer (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.) to give the Vikings a 3-2 lead at intermission. The defender's first career goal came in his collegiate game.
Colucci extended the lead to 4-2 in the 73rd minute, beating a defender before bending a shot just inside the far post for his fourth goal of the year.
Two minutes later, Spelman and Solorio hooked up again, with Solorio finishing the play with his seventh goal of the season.
Millikin got off four more shots in the final 15 minutes, but put just one on frame, which Bell saved. He finished the day with three saves, while Big Blue keepers Daniel Sinclair and Trevor Creek split four.
Augustana outshot the visitors 14-12, including 8-6 in shots on goal. Corners were even at four apiece.
In addition to Gustafson, Colucci and Witucki,
Anthony D'Angelo (Stevenson HS, Buffalo Grove, Ill.),
Gabriel Brouillette (Carmel HS, Mundelein, Ill.) and
Andrew Smith (Galesburg HS, Galesburg, Ill.) were feted as part of Senior Day festivities.
