CHICAGO, Ill. - Freshmen Jordyn Sundberg (Aurora Central Catholic HS, Oswego, Ill.) and Andria Serra (Alleman HS, Silvis, Ill.) each scored a goal Saturday and junior Jessa Rizzo (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) added her third in the last four matches as Augustana  defeated North Park 3-0 at the Holmgren Athletic Complex. Coach Scott Mejia's squad moved to 13-3-1 on the year and 3-1-1 in the CCIW. The hosts fell to 5-10 overall and 0-5 in the league.

The first half was largely uneventful offensively. Augustana outshot North Park by a 6-0 margin, but put just one attempt on frame.

Sundberg changed that early in the second period. She gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute with her third goal of the season.

In the 73rd minute, Sundberg assisted on Serra's eighth goal of the year to give the Vikings a 2-0 advantage.

Rizzo scored for the third time in the last four matches with four minutes remaining to account for the final of 3-0. The tally was her fourth of the season.

Despite being without starter and corner specialist Brianne Frys (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.), the Viking defense recorded its 11th shutout of the year and fourth in the past five matches. Backs Stef Hamaker (Boylan HS, Caledonia, Ill.) and Sammi Farkos (Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Flossmoor, Ill.), along with freshmen Abby Wendell (Hersey HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Melette DeVore (Kennedy HS, Cedar Rapids, Iowa), allowed North Park just four shots, all in the second half. Senior keeper Meredith Chew (Paradise Valley HS, Phoenix, Ariz.) recorded three saves.

The Vikings are back in action on Wednesday, October 28, hosting Wheaton in a 5:00 p.m. match at Thorson-Lucken Field.
