Vikings battle Carthage to scoreless tie

Carthage.

KENOSHA, Wis.. – Coach Scott Mejia's 200th win at Augustana will have to wait at least one more match. On Saturday, the Vikings battled to a scoreless tie with Carthage at Art Keller Field. After 110 minutes without a goal, Augustana's record stands at 11-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the CCIW. The Lady Reds are now 3-10-1 this season and 0-3-1 in the conference.
 
Viking senior Meredith Chew (Paradise Valley HS, Phoenix, Ariz.) tied a season high with nine saves in her sixth shutout of the season and fourth in a row. She has not surrendered a goal in her last 435 minutes. Carthage's Abby Alm recorded eight saves Saturday.
 
Senior Kelly Farell (St. Ursula Academy, Sylvania, Ohio) got off four of Augustana's dozen shots. Carthage outshot the Vikings 18-12, while the Vikings had a 5-2 edge in corners.
 
Mejia's club will try and get him that 200th win in its next match on Wednesday, October 21 at North Central. That contest is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 p.m.
