Junior Jonathan Colucci and the Vikings fell 1-0 Friday night to UW-Whitewater at Thorson-Lucken
Field.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Wisconsin-Whitewater's Ryan Reid scored on a header off a John Gottwald free kick in the 82nd minute Friday night as the Warhawks defeated Augustana 1-0 at Thorson-Lucken Field. The loss dropped the Vikings to 6-3 on the year, while UWW improved to 5-3-1.

Whitewater didn't get off its first shot of the night until almost 63 minutes had elapsed in the match. However, in the 82 minute, a foul on Augustana gave the visitors a free kick from just inside midfield. Gottwald lofted it straight at the Augustana goal and when Viking keeper Brett Johnson (Zion Benton HS, Beach Park, Ill.) couldn't get a handle on it, Reid headed it in for his third goal of the season. It was the Warhawks fourth and final shot of the evening.

Augustana took the only four shots in a scoreless first half and outshot UWW 8-4 in the second period for a margin of 12-4 in the match. Sophomore Danny Campagna (Glenbard North HS, Carol Stream, Ill.) led the Vikings with three shots, one of which was on goal. Junior Anthony D'Angelo (Stevenson HS, Buffalo Grove, Ill.) put both of his attempts on goal.

The Warhawks had a 6-3 advantage in corners.

Johnson made one save on the night, while his Whitewater counterpart, Josh Rohde, was credited with four.

Coach Brenton Joseph's side is back in action on Wednesday, October 1, when the Vikings travel across the Mississippi to face St. Ambrose in a 4:00 p.m. match.
