Danilo Panici scored the lone goal in Augustana's 1-0 win at Central on
Wednesday, September 24.
PELLA, Iowa – An early goal by senior Danilo Panici (Lincoln-Way West HS, New Lenox, Ill.) was all the scoring Augustana would need in a 1-0 non-conference victory over Central on Wednesday, September 24 in Pella, Iowa. The Vikings won for the fourth consecutive time this season and raised their overall record to 6-2 with the victory.

Panici got Augustana on the board with less than 13 minutes gone in the contest (12:38) when he took a feed from sophomore Michael Brazinski (Plainfield East HS, Plainfield, Ill.) and knocked it into the goal. That would be all the scoring in the game as the Vikings posted their fifth shutout of the season and their second in a row.

Senior goal keeper Brett Johnson (Zion-Benton HS, Beach Park, Ill.) recorded three saves in goal as he posted his fourth shutout of the campaign.

Augustana dominated the game statistically, holding a 20-4 advantage in shots with 10 of those on goal. Central only managed four shots and three of those were on goal. Central goalkeeper Austin Little recorded nine saves. The Vikings had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

Junior Jonathan Colucci (Glenbard North HS, Carol Stream, Ill.) led the visitors in shots with five while Panici, Brazinski and junior Patrick Nelson (Jacksonville HS, Jacksonville, Ill.) all had four shots.

This Friday, September 26, the Vikings will entertain Wisconsin-Whitewater at 7:00 p.m. at Thorson-Lucken Field.
