Kyle Frake is the second leading receiver for the Vikings so far this season with six
catches for 60 yards.
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Junior quarterback Sam Frasco (Prospect HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) came within nine yards of Ken Anderson's 46-year old school record for total offense this past Saturday, but it wasn't quite enough to keep Augustana from falling 37-27 at Hope. The Vikings, 0-2 on the season, will play their 2014 home opener on Saturday, September 20, hosting Loras in the second annual Knowlton Kickoff Classic at Lindberg Stadium.

Frasco finished with 191 yards and three touchdowns rushing and threw for a career-high 259 yards and an additional score. His 450 yards of total offense were just short of the 459 Anderson compiled at North Park on November 2, 1968.

Through two games, Frasco has rushed for 193 yards and four touchdowns on 30 carries, an average of 6.4 yards per attempt. He's completed 30 of 51 pass attempts (58.8%) for 377 yards with one interception and one touchdown. Junior slot receiver Sean Fitzgerald (Providence Catholic HS, Manhattan, Ill.) is second on the team in rushing with 116 yards on five carries (23.2 yards per attempt). The Vikings ground game is averaging 264.5 yards per game and 5.9 per carry through two contests and the offense has a whole has produced averages of 26.0 points and 463.5 yards of total offense.

Fitzgerald is also the leading receiver for Coach Rob Cushman's squad, with seven catches for 102 yards. Senior Kyle Frake (Central HS, Clinton, Ill.) has six receptions for 60 yards and senior Antonio Owens (Naperville North HS, Chicago, Ill.), who missed the season opener, caught five balls for 75 yards and a touchdown at Hope.

This Saturday, Augustana will host a 1-1 Loras Duhawk squad in the second annual Knowlton Kickoff Classic. The Vikings' 2014 home opener will also be part of Family Weekend festivities.

This week's opponent, Loras, defeated CCIW member Elmhurst 39-17 at home on September 6 before dropping a 21-17 decision at Wisconsin-Stout this past Saturday.

Coach Steve Helminiak's Duhawks are averaging 383.5 yards of total offense through two games. Of that, 333.0 per game come via the passing game. Senior quarterback Dylan Jones has completed 51 of 86 pass attempts (59.3%) for 666 yards and three touchdowns. Jones has been intercepted twice. Junior wide out Nate Even has been Jones' favorite target, with 16 catches for 290 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore running back Danny Willis, a second team All-IIAC selection as a return specialist in 2013, has nine catches, as does sophomore wide receiver Josh Schulte. Junior Nate Carrier is Loras' leading rusher with 127 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries.

Defensively, the Duhawks are surrendering an average of 306.5 total yards per game and just 89.5 per contest and 2.1 per carry on the ground. Freshman defensive back Maurice Young already has four interceptions on the year and Loras  has forced a total of nine turnovers. Sophomore linebacker Calvin Harridge leads the team with 17 solo and 22 total tackles. Sophomore linebacker Damon Davies has already registered five sacks.
