With a 21-0 win over visiting Fontbonne on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, the Augustana women's lacrosse team put the finishing touches on its perfect regular season. Head coach Sara Tisdale's Vikings now boast a 16-0 record along with a perfect 10-0 mark in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference.

The victory solidified Tisdale's unit as the MWLC regular season champions for the second year in a row. Fontbonne marked the last regular season MWLC contest that the Vikings will play as they will be members of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin next year. Augustana holds an 18-0 record in the league over its two seasons as a member.

In the win, Hilary Kargl (Sacred Heart Academy, Louisville, Ky.) set the school record for assists in a single game with 10, breaking her own previous record of seven set on April 6th against Loras. The Vikings assisted on 20 of the 21 goals in the contest.

Augustana dominated the 10-player Fontbonne Griffins from the opening whistle holding the visitors to just one shot in the entire match. Tisdale's squad also controlled the draw column winning 21-24 draws. The hosts played stifling defense and did not allow Fontbonne to construct a successful clear the entire game in 18 attempts.

Kelly Stelzer (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.) led Augustana with four goals while Annie Hopkins (Mother Mcauley HS, Chicago, Ill.) and Shelby Cosman (Marian Catholic HS, St. John, Ind.) each tallied a trio. Madi Stoneman (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.) and Kendall Maduro (Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) both added a pair of scores for the Augustana offense and teammates Olivia Mayer (Libertyville HS, Green Oaks, Ill.), Kaylee Nolan (Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.), Alex Palmisano (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.), Maggie DelVecchio (Barrington HS, Barrington, Ill.), and Quinn Foley (Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) all tallied one goal.

To go along with 10 assists by Kargl, Emily Handrahan (Lake Zurich HS, Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) added four assists. Hopkins registered a trio with Patty Miller (William Fremd HS, Inverness, Ill.) adding two while Stoneman had one assist.

Tisdale's company held a dominating 30-1 shot advantage with the Griffins lone shot coming in the second half. The Vikings were also successful on 7-8 clear attempts and gathered 20 of the 30 ground balls in the contest.

Goalkeepers Jenna Hofmann (Columbine HS, Littleton, Colo.) and Sarah Osier (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) split time in the goal with Osier facing the only shot and recording the only save of the evening for the Vikings.

Fontbonne, located in St. Louis, Missouri, marked the 10th state that the undefeated Vikings have beaten a team from this season. In order, the states are: Tennessee (Sewanee), Georgia (Oglethorpe), Kentucky (Centre), Michigan (Adrian), Indiana (DePauw), Wisconsin (Concordia), Iowa (Dubuque), Ohio (Denison), Illinois (Benedictine), and Missouri (Fontbonne).
