Successful “Senior Day” for undefeated Vikings with 21-4 win over Beloit

(Sacred Heart Academy, Louisville, Ky.) and a score by Olivia Mayer (Libertyville HS, Green Oaks, Ill.). The Vikings scored twice more before Beloit found the back of the net at the 22:00 mark in the opening half. Rebecca Pollard (Westfield HS, Carmel, Ind.) found the net to give Tisdale's unit a 7-1 lead but Beloit answered 58 seconds later to pull within five (7-2).  The hosts scored the next nine goals to close out the half with a 16-2 advantage over the Buccaneers.
 
Kendall Maduro (Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) started the offense in the second half with a goal at the 26:55 mark for Augustana. Goodale struck next for the Vikings on an unassisted shot for an 18-2 advantage. Maduro, Shelby Cosman (Marion Catholic HS, St. John, Ind.), and Quinn Foley (Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) produced the final three tallies for Augustana before Beloit scored at the 2:50 and :28 marks for the final 21-4 margin.
 
The Augustana offense was lead by Cosman with four tallies while Kargl and Maduro each recorded a hat trick. Kelly Stelzer (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.) and Patty Miller (William Fremd HS, Inverness, Ill.) each registered a pair of goals for the Vikings. Seven Vikings added one score including: Mayer, Pollard, Foley, Goodale, Kaylee Nolan (Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.), Emily Handrahan (Lake Zurich HS, Hawthorn Woods, Ill.), and Gina Filippo (Libertyville HS, Green Oaks, Ill.).
 
Tisdale's squad assisted 15 of its 21 scores on the afternoon. Kargl had a game-high four assists while teammate Annie Hopkins (Mother Mcauley HS, Chicago, Ill.) added three of her own. Eight Vikings tallied a single assist in the match including: Handrahan, Mayer, Miller, Nolan, Pavlik, Stelzer, Alex Palmisano (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.), and Madi Stoneman (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.).
 
In the first half, Augustana outshot the Bucs by a 24-7 margin that became a 35-11 tally by the final buzzer. Tisdale's crew controlled the ground balls by a 19-8 mark with Stoneman registering three pick-ups for the Vikings. Beloit forfeited the ball 27 times opposed to the hosts' 16. The Vikings won 17-27 draws with Maduro recording five and Cosman taking four.
 
Jenna Hofmann (Columbine HS, Littleton, Colo.) and Sarah Osier (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) split time in the net evenly and each recorded a pair of saves.
 
Fontbonne is the only game remaining on the regular season schedule for the Augustana unit. The Griffins are currently 2-10 and 0-8 in the league and will face Aurora before visiting Rock Island. Augustana holds a 2-0 series advantage against Fontbonne with 23-3 and 24-4 victories coming in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
