Ashley Anderson (Sherrard HS, Viola, Ill.) won her fourth straight decision and junior
Christie Wiersema (Morrison HS, Morrison, Ill.) threw a complete game in her first starting assignment of the season as Augustana swept a doubleheader at Knox Wednesday, 7-0 and 12-2. The Vikings broke open both games late and Wiersema helped her own cause with a sixth-inning, three-run homer in the night cap. Coach
Kris Kistler's 19th-ranked club improves to 19-5 on the year, while Knox falls to 1-15. Augustana opens CCIW play with a twin bill on Saturday, April 5 against Carthage in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
AUGUSTANA 7, KNOX 0 Anderson went the distance in the opener, extending her scoreless innings streak to 24 and improving to 7-4 on the year. She scattered five hits and walked just one while fanning seven.

AUGUSTANA 12, KNOX 2 The night cap ended after six innings, but was just a 4-2 game after five.
Wiersema led off the sixth with a single and stole second. One out later, Lavin and Behnke delivered back-to-back doubles to make it 6-2. Teson followed with a single and one out later Anderson drove in Behnke with a base hit. A Knox error allowed Teson and Anderson to score, making it 9-2, and a walk to pinch hitter
Miranda Hiemer (Nazareth Academy, Chicago, Ill.) brought Wiersema to the plate again. She pounded her second round tripper of the season to cap an eight-run inning and make it 12-2.

Krista Watson (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) sacrifice fly and an RBI groundout by Anderson gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead after one half inning. The Prairie Fire got to Wiersema for a pair of unearned runs in the bottom half to tie it.
Augustana took the lead with an unearned run in the second and extended it to 4-2 with another in the fourth.
Wiersema allowed just three hits and no earned runs in her first start in the circle this year. She walked two and struck out four, winning her first decision of the season. At the plate, she went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three driven in. Behnke went 3-for-4 with a double, her school record 11th triple, two runs and two RBI. Teson was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Lavin went 2-for-2 to finish the day 4-for-4.
