ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Junior catcher Christina Pagan (Normal West HS, Normal, Ill.) ended Saturday's opener with a 10th-inning RBI single and Augustana exploded for six runs in the seventh inning of game two as the Vikings swept a doubleheader from Millikin 3-2 and 6-1 at Carver Field. Coach Kris Kistler's 17th-ranked club improves to 25-7 overall and 6-2 in the CCIW heading into a Sunday, April 13 doubleheader with Elmhurst at home. Millikin falls to 16-11 overall and 0-4 in the league.

AUGUSTANA 3, MILLIKIN 2 (10 Innings)

Pagan came through with a bases-loaded single to score classmate Chelsea Lavin (Downers Grove South HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning of game one.

With the teams tied at 2-2, Lavin led off the deciding frame with a single and moved to third on Christie Wiersema's (Morrison HS, Morrison, Ill.) double to left center. Both runners held on a bunt single by senior Chaney Tambling (Dwight HS, Dwight, Ill.) and Pagan followed with the game-winner.

Millikin took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. An infield hit and an error preceded Raeshel Braden's two-run double down the left field line. Those would be the only Big Blue runs in the contest, as Viking starter Sarah Hintz (Le Roy HS, Le Roy, Ill.) handcuffed the visitors on just one hit—a fifth-inning Meghan Matthews single—over the final nine innings.

Augustana evened the score in the third. Junior Jenna Teson (Jacobs HS, Algonquin, Ill.) and sophomore Ashley Anderson (Sherrard HS, Viola, Ill.) had back-to-back one out singles and senior Krista Watson (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) walked to load the bases. Senior Jaime Rehmert (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) plated Teson with a single to left center and after Millikin cut down Anderson at the plate on Lavin's grounder to third, Watson scored the equalizer on a wild pitch.

The Vikings threatened against Big Blue starter Taylor Hull, leaving two runners stranded in each of the first, third, fourth, fifth and ninth innings, but couldn't push across another run until the 10th.

Hintz went the distance to win for the 12th time in 15 decisions this year. Hull also went the distance, scattering 13 Vikings hits, but suffered the loss. Anderson went 4-for-5 at the plate and Rehmert and Pagan each had two hits and an RBI.

AUGUSTANA 6, MILLIKIN 1

Millikin's Hillary Shelton stifled Augustana for six innings in the night cap. However, with her team trailing 1-0, freshman catcher Brittany Kellett (The Woodlands HS, The Woodlands, Texas) led off the top of the seventh with a single. Sophomore Kendra Rakers (Belleville West HS, Millstadt, Ill.) pinch ran and moved up on a Miranda Hiemer (Nazareth Academy, Chicago, Ill.) ground out to first. Teson singled to center, scoring Rakers with the tying run and then stole second. Anderson was hit by a pitch and Watson and Rehmert followed with RBI singles to make it 3-1 Vikings. Lavin punctuated the inning with a three-run double to left center.

Anderson retired the Big Blue in the bottom of the seventh to win her seventh straight decision and move to 10-4 on the year. She surrendered eight hits, but walked none while fanning four. Shelton threw a complete game and suffered the loss.

Millikin had taken the lead on Alyssa Visvardis' solo homer in the fourth.

Watson went 3-for-4 in the night cap with a run scored and one driven in. Lavin was 2-for-4 with three RBI.
