A four goal, four assist outing by
Hilary Kargl (Sacred Heart Academy, Louisville, Ky.) propelled the Augustana women's lacrosse team to a 15-8 win over DePauw on Friday, March 21 in the Vikings' home opener. Head coach Sara Tisdale's squad remains undefeated at 5-0 with each victory coming in a different state (Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, and Illinois). Kargl wasted no time scoring the first goal of the night just 53 seconds after the initial draw. She found the back of the net again at 27:21 to make it 2-0. Kargl tallied assists on the next three goals, which saw the Vikings leading 5-0 with 13:29 to go before intermission.

Rebecca Pollard (Westfield HS, Carmel, Ind.) scored the fifth, sixth, and seventh goals for Augustana before Elizabeth McCracken scored back-to-back DePauw goals to make the score 7-2.
Kelly Stelzer (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.) then added another goal for the blue and gold to close out the half.

Kargl started the second half with the two more goals for Tisdale's squad, accounting for her 21
st and 22
nd goals on the season. With 13:18 remaining the Vikings went up by 10 (15-5) to instill the running clock that lasted until the 8:51 mark when the Tigers scored on a man up opportunity. DePauw registered the final three scores of the match to result in the 15-8 win for the Vikings.

Each team had a goal disallowed in the match due to an illegal stick ruling following the goals.

Pollard recorded four goals and two assists on the night. Stelzer and Emily Handerhan
(Lake Zurich HS, Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) each finished with two goals and one assist while
Shelby Cosman (Marion Catholic HS, St. John, Ind.) added a pair of goals. Sophomore
Kaylee Nolan (Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) rounded out the scoring with one goal and one assist.

The Vikings outshot the Tigers by a 35-18 margin, including a lopsided 20-5 halftime statistic. Ground balls were controlled by Augustana with a 27-20 edge. DePauw forfeited 33 turnovers opposed to 20 by the Vikings.

Jenna Hofmann (Columbine HS, Littleton, Colo.) was in net for Augustana and recorded four saves in the win. Hofmann's DePauw counterpart, Liz Hawkins, recorded 13 saves in the Tiger's first lost of the season (1-1).

The Vikings hit the road for their first conference contest against Concordia of Wisconsin next weekend on Saturday, March 29 in Mequon, Wis. The first draw is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Augustana has been the victor of all three meetings against the Falcons since the inaugural 2012 season.
