DECATUR, Ill. – For the second time in five matches, an Augustana player has scored her first three career goals in the same contest. On Saturday, it was sophomore midfielder Brianne Frys (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) who turned the hat trick as the Vikings won 6-0 on the road at Millikin. Coach Scott Mejia's side closes the regular season at 12-4-2 overall and finishes third in the CCIW at 5-2. Augustana will face Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Illinois in the semifinals of the conference tournament on Wednesday, November 5. Millikin finishes 3-13-2 on the season and 0-6-1 in the CCIW.
 
All six Viking goals Saturday came in a span of just more than 24 minutes. Frys' unassisted goal, the first of her career, in the 34th minute made it 1-0. Four and a half minutes later, she assisted on freshman midfielder Mady Huber's (Legacy HS, Broomfield, Colo.) first career goal. The assist was Frys' second of the year.
 
In the 41st minute, Frys scored another unassisted goal and Augustana went to halftime leading 3-0.
 
Junior Kelly Farell (St. Ursula Academy, Sylvania, Ohio) scored twice in a span of 27 seconds in the second half as the Vikings went up 5-0. She scored her seventh goal of the year off a Huber assist and came right back with her eighth, tying her for the team lead. Both of Farell's goals came in the 56th minute.
 
Less than two minutes later, Frys finished off the hat trick with an unassisted goal. With her first three career goals and an assist, she matched the performance that junior Kortney Hix (Mountain Vista HS, Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had versus Carthage on October 18.
 
Sophomore Margaret Williams (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) went the distance in goal, recording one save and posting her second solo shutout of the season.
 
Augustana outshot Millikin 27-1 and had a 3-0 edge in corners.
