DECATUR, Ill. – Zach Solorio's goal in the 12th minute was the only scoring of the match Saturday, as Millikin ended Augustana's season with a 1-0 win over the Vikings at Frank M. Lindsay Field. Coach Brenton Joseph's side, which needed a win to reach the CCIW tournament, finishes the year 10-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the conference. The Big Blue improved to 9-7-1 overall and 4-3 in the league.
 
Solorio scored his first goal of the year off an assist from Oliver Czopek. The assist was Czopek's first as well. Millikin took that 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime despite being outshot 10-4 by Augustana.
 
The Vikings also had a 5-1 edge in shot attempts during the second half, but couldn't come away with the equalizer. Junior Ian Deggendorf (St. James Academy, Liberty, Mo.) took the team's final attempt. It came in the 90th minute and went wide. Junior Jonathan Colucci (Glenbard North HS, Carol Stream, Ill.) led the way with six shots, two of which he put on goal.
 
Augustana finished with a 15-5 advantage in shot attempts and put four on goal to two for the Big Blue. There were no corners taken in the match.
 
Viking goalkeeper Brett Johnson (Zion-Benton HS, Beach Park, Ill.) finished with one save in his final match. Daniel Sinclair recorded four saves in posting the shutout for Millikin.
