Augustana fell 17-10 at Elmhurst.

ELMHURST, Ill.— Elmhurst's Josh Williams scored on a two-yard run with 1:26 remaining Saturday to lift the Bluejays to a 17-10 win over Augustana at Langhorst Field. The Vikings fell to 1-3 on the year and 0-1 in the CCIW, while the hosts improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the league.

Williams' game-winning touchdown capped a nine-play, 65-yard march that took 1:37 off the clock. He carried the ball seven times for 47 yards on the drive. Augustana had one final chance, but on fourth-and-four from its own 31-yard line, Sam Frasco's (Prospect HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) shovel pass to Sean Fitzgerald (Providence Catholic HS, Manhattan, Ill.) fell incomplete.

The visitors went up 3-0 with 9:42 left in the first quarter. Senior Conner Murray (Conifer HS, Morrison, Colo.) booted a 35-yard field goal to finish off the Vikings' first possession. Key plays on the eight-play, 46-yard drive included a nine-yard Frasco-to-Kyle Frake (Central HS, Clifton, Ill.) completion on third-and-five and a 25-yard run by Benjamin Hodges (St. Charles North HS, Elburn, Ill.). A 29-yard field goal by Elmhurst's Brett Bayer tied things with three seconds left in the first period.

Sophomore linebacker Jack Asquini (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) recovered a Williams fumble at the Augustana three-yard line with 8:11 left in the second quarter and the Vikings then put together a 19-play drive which eventually reached the Bluejay three. However, a personal foul penalty pushed them back and Murray's second 35-yard attempt of the afternoon went wide left with 16 seconds left in the half.

Augustana took the second half kickoff and marched 57 yards in nine plays for the go-ahead score. Sophomore Brandon Price (Providence Catholic HS, Plainfield, Ill.) carried it in from four yards out and Murray's point after made the score 10-3 Vikings.

Early in the fourth quarter, Elmhurst tied it up again on a Joe Camiliere-to-Garrett Claxon six-yard touchdown pass. After the Vikings came up with a goal line stand late in the third, stopping Williams on fourth-and-goal from the Augustana one, they coughed it up three plays later. The Bluejays recovered and Camaliere found Claxon with the equalizer on Elmhurst's first play. Each team had two scoreless possessions in the final period before the Bluejays put together the game winning drive.

Frasco rushed for 54 yards and threw for another 76, completing nine of 21 pass attempts. Fitzgerald had seven receptions for 67 yards. Asquini had a game-high 10 tackles in addition to the fumble recovery. Sophomore linebacker Erik Johnson (Warren HS, Gurnee, Ill.) had seven tackles. Senior defensive back Ben Fornek (Batavia HS, Batavia, Ill.) had an interception to go along with four tackles. Williams finished with 144 rushing yards for Elmhurst.

Next Saturday, October 11, Augustana will welcome Wheaton to Lindberg Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. contest that will be part of Homecoming festivities.
