win over North Park at Thorson-Lucken Field.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill.- It took a while for Augustana to get started Saturday, but a Somer Druszkowski (Lincoln-Way Central HS, Manhattan, Ill.) goal in the 54th minute finally opened the floodgates and Coach Scott Mejia's Vikings cruised to a 4-1 victory over North park on Senior Day at Thorson-Lucken Field. The hosts improved to 11-3-2 on the year and 4-1 in the CCIW, while North Park fell to 6-10 overall and 1-4 in the league.

Augustana took nine shots in the opening half and put five on goal but came away empty as the teams went to the halftime break tied at 0-0. North Park went without a shot attempt in the first half.

Finally, in the 54th minute, Druszkowski got the hosts on the board with her fourth goal of the season. Junior Jessica Kras (Glenbard North HS, Carol Stream, Ill.) picked up her third assist on the play. Nine minutes later, junior Kelly Farell (St. Ursula Academy, Sylvania, Ohio) worked the left side and found freshman Sammi Farkos (Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Flossmoor, Ill.) near the North Park goal. Farkos' shot beat keeper Megan Durkee for her first career goal and a 2-0 Augustana lead.

In the 69th minute, senior Kerri Skotnicki (Waubonsie Valley HS, Aurora, Ill.) lined up for a corner from the right side. Her kick hit the far post and bounded into the net. The goal was Skotnicki's second of the season and put Mejia's crew up 3-0.

Two more of Saturday's Senior Day honorees got into the act in the 74th minute. Rachel Stemplewski (Warren HS, Gurnee, Ill.) redirected a pass from freshman Grace Iaquinta (East HS, Lincoln, Neb.) to Taylor Navarro (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.), who finished off the sequence with her third goal of the season. Both Stemplewski and Iaquinta were credited with assists on the play.

Emma Lundeen scored her 14th goal of the season in the 84th minute to help North Park avoid the shutout.

In addition to Skotnicki, Navarro and Stemplewski, Augustana also honored Kimberly Grimmer (Downers Grove South HS, Woodridge, Ill.) and Jackie Luka (Warren HS, Gurnee, Ill.) as part of Senior Day festivities.

Augustana outshout their guests by a 28-3 margin. The hosts had a 14-2 edge in shots on goal and a 6-1 advantage in corners. Sophomore Margaret Williams (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) made one save and picked up her third straight win in goal.

The Vikings face a big CCIW test at Wheaton on Wednesday, October 29. That match is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 p.m.
