Jonathan Colucci strikes his second goal in Augustana's 3-2 win over North Park Saturday.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – It was Senior Day at Thorson-Lucken Field Saturday, but it was junior Jonathan Colucci (Glenbard North HS, Carol Stream, Ill.) who provided two goals and an assist to lead Augustana to a 3-2 win over CCIW leader North Park. Coach Brenton Joseph's Vikings improve to 10-5-1 on the year and 2-2-1 in the conference, while 21st-ranked North Park drops to 12-4 overall and 4-1 in the league.

Colucci got the home side on the board in the 17th minute with his third goal of the season. Senior Nathan Kyes (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) assisted on the play. North Park's  Pedram Tahmi-Masolah leveled the match in the 28th minute, scoring his 13th goal of the year off an assist from Przemyslaw Zabielski. The teams went to the half tied at one-all.

The match stayed that way until the 67th minute, when a Michael Brazinski (Plainfield East HS, Plainfield, Ill.) goal started a four-minute flurry of scoring. The Augustana sophomore put his team ahead 2-1 with his third goal of the season. Colucci, who was credited with his team-leading sixth assist on Brazinski's goal, found the net again less than three minutes later. His fourth goal of the year came on assists from juniors Patrick Nelson (Jacksonville HS, Jacksonville, Ill.) and Adam Witucki (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.) and put the hosts up 3-1.

It took less than two minutes for North Park to answer, with Diego Lashlee scoring his fifth goal off an assist from Christoffer Ostberg.

Leading 3-2, Augustana survived four more shot attempts over the final 20 minutes. Senior keeper Brett Johnson (Zion Benton HS, Beach Park, Ill.) came up with saves on two of those, including the final shot of the match, by Lashlee in the 86th minute. North Park had a final corner attempt in the 88th minute, but Augustana was able to clear it and hang on for the win. The intensity picked up as the match progressed as well, with all six cautions (three issued to each side) coming in the last 27 minutes.

Each team finished with 10 shots. Augustana put five on goal and North Park six. The visitors had a 3-2 edge in corners and fouls were even as well, at 16. Johnson finished with four saves, while his North Park counterpart, Wesley Woodley, recorded two.

Kyes and Johnson were two of six seniors honored by Joseph and the Viking program on Saturday. Others included defenders Adam Bengfort (Assumption HS, Davenport, Iowa)—who played the entire contest despite wearing a large wrap on his surgically-repaired thumb—and Danny Campagna (Glenbard North HS, Carol Stream, Ill.), midfielder Danilo Panici (Lincoln-Way West HS, New Lenox, Ill.) and forward Vincenzo Dal Pozzo (Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.). Also recognized were juniors Nelson and Ian Deggendorf (St. James Academy, Liberty, Mo.), who will be completing their degrees elsewhere as part of Augustana's "3/2" engineering program.

Another ranked opponent awaits Joseph's bunch on Wednesday, October 29. Augustana travels to Wheaton to take on the 10th-ranked Thunder at 7:00 p.m.
