Junior Somer Druszkowski scored her second goal of the season in Augustana's 3-0 win at
Elmhurst Saturday.

ELMHURST, Ill. –  Junior Kelly Farell's (St. Ursula Academy, Sylvania, Ohio) goal in the second minute was all the scoring that Augustana would need in its match with Elmhurst Saturday, but the Vikings added two more scores—one early and one late—to defeat the Bluejays 3-0. Coach Scott Mejia's side improves to 8-3-1 overall and 1-1 in the CCIW, while the hosts fall to 6-5 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Farell got an assist from freshman Stephanie Buga (Conant HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) to tally her fifth goal of the season less than two minutes in. In the 27th minute, it was Farell dishing out the assist—her fifth—on classmate Somer Druszkowski's (Lincoln-Way Central HS, Manhattan, Ill.) second goal of the year.

The score stayed at 2-0 until the 87th minute, when sophomore Brianne Frys (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) had her shot stopped by Elmhurst keeper Melinda Vickers. Vickers couldn't control the ball however, and freshman Sammi Farkos (Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Flossmoor, Ill.) was there to follow up for her first collegiate goal. Frys was credited with her first assist of the season on the play.

Augustana outshot the hosts by a 20-7 margin in the match and also held a 4-1 advantage in corners. Junior goalkeeper Meredith Chew (Paradise Valley HS, Phoenix, Ariz.) made three saves and recorded her second solo shutout of the season. Vickers had 10 saves for the Bluejays.

Next up for the Vikings is a non-conference match at Wartburg on Tuesday, October 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Waverly, Iowa.
