Augustana scored the only goal of the match in the 64th minute Saturday to come away a 1-0 winner over Millikin at Thorson-Lucken Field. With the Senior Day victory, Coach Brenton Joseph's Vikings finish the year with a 7-10-1 record and a 1-6-0 mark in CCIW play. The Big Blue drops to 3-12-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the conference.

Two of the seniors recognized Saturday collaborated on the match's lone goal. The play started with sophomore Jonathan Colucci (Glenbard North HS, Carol Stream, Ill.) firing a cross from the right side. Senior Matt Shipon (South Elgin HS, Elgin, Ill.) redirected it and classmate Grant Halter (Glenbard West HS, Glen Ellyn, Ill.) found the net with his sixth goal of the season.

Another of the day's honorees, Adam Wilson (Plainfield North HS, Plainfield, Ill.) nearly provided the highlight of the match in the 56th minute. The senior co-captain, who hadn't played in two years because of a knee injury, started the second half and logged 11 minutes. Just before exiting the contest, Wilson had a point-blank attempt, but his shot went just high.

The Viking defense, including Senior Day honorees Michael Buric (Notre Dame Prep, Scottsdale, Ariz.), Evan Johnson (Glenbard South HS, Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Kyle Polanco (Lincoln-Way North HS, Frankfort, Ill.) made Halter's goal stand up over the last 26 minutes. Junior goalkeeper Brett Johnson (Zion Benton HS, Beach Park, Ill.) recorded four saves and his third solo shutout in improving to 4-5-1 on the season.

D.J. Lawlor (Lincoln-Way North HS, Tinley Park, Ill.), who logged his first start of the year and goalkeeper Tyler Cowherd (Bettendorf HS, Bettendorf, Iowa), who was out with an injury, were also feted by Augustana Saturday.

The Vikings controlled play throughout, outshooting the visitors by a 23-7 margin, including a 13-4 edge in shots on goal. Millikin had a 6-5 advantage in corners.
