Scheer joins the Augustana College athletics staff in January 2026, where he will support the Vikings' athletic communications efforts.
Prior to Augustana, Scheer served as a Sports Information Assistant at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, assisting in stats, articles, and social media content for all 23 of Heidelberg's athletic programs. Additionally, he covered all varsity sports across the Mid-American Conference, delivering comprehensive coverage while hosting and producing The MAC Sports Connection Podcast, the top-rated independent podcast dedicated to MAC athletics. He was selected to represent Heidelberg University in the 2025 NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar and named to the 2025 Emerging Elite program by College Sports Communicators, recognizing and developing promising leaders in athletic communications.
He also brings distinctive international and domestic event leadership experience from the world of quadball (previously known as quidditch). Scheer held key leadership roles with US Quidditch, including serving as the Great Lakes Regional Director, overseeing operations for approximately 25 university and club teams across states like Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio, and coordinating the region's inaugural championship. He also served as a certified referee and proctor for two years. Building on this foundation, Scheer served as Marketing Director for the 2016 International Quidditch Association World Cup in Frankfurt, Germany, where he oversaw a team of ten to execute marketing and promotional strategies for a 21-team event featuring national squads from around the world.
In his role with the Vikings, Scheer will assist with live stat keeping using PrestoSports and NCAA Live Stats, compile game day programs, write season previews, recaps, and player profile articles, and contribute to other essential athletic communications initiatives.
Scheer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Toledo and is expected to graduate in May 2026 with his Master's in Sports Administration from Ohio University's top-ranked SportsAd program.
In his free time, Scheer is an active member of the BPO Elks and an avid trumpet player.
