Frank Flanagan joined the Augustana men’s volleyball program as an assistant coach just in time for the first varsity season in 2017. Flanagan, who was born and raised in Southern California, has been around the game of volleyball since he was 13 years old.
 
He attended Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, California and then went to El Camino Junior College where he played on the men’s volleyball team. During his sophomore year at El Camino he led the state of California in assists and was third in total digs.
 
Flanagan came to the Quad Cities after his stint at El Camino and he played on the men’s volleyball team at St. Ambrose. As a student coach he helped the Bees finish second in the NAIA National Tournament in 2015 and third in 2016 as a setter.
 
While attending SAU, he also helped to start the Iowa Select Volleyball Club, and now works full time as a club director with the organization. 
 
As well as his duties with Iowa Select, Flanagan is the head coach for the Alleman Catholic girls team and coaches in the summer with USA Volleyball in the high performance pipeline program.
