Augustana College Athletics

Isaac Smith enters his 6th season as assistant coach with the Vikings track & field teams in 2023 specializing in sprints, hurdles, and relays. Smith has a BA in Chemistry from Augustana College. 

During his tenure at Augie, he has mentored 10 All-Americans, 17 conference champions, and 73 all-conference performers in sprints, hurdles, and relay events. In 2022, Seth Sottos broke the 100m school record in 10.59. In 2020, Michael Johnson broke the 55m record in 6.39 and 60m record in 6.78 seconds. 

Isaac is certified Sprint, Hurdle & Relay Specialist and as Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the USTFCCCA. 

Prior to coaching, Isaac competed in the sprints for the Vikings focusing primarily on the 400m. During his career he led off the 2015 National Champion 4x400m relay team of Smith, Devore, Kline, and Voland. He achieved 10 All-American performances in the 400m and 4x400m relay, two Academic All-American honors, won 10 CCIW titles in the 200m, 400m, and 4x400m relay and received 21 all-conference honors. During his time, the Vikings won three team titles in the CCIW track & field championships.

Isaac is originally from Marion, Iowa and now lives in the Quad Cities.
