Seth Tegtmeier took over as head coach of the Augustana women’s bowling program in July of 2019. He is the second head coach in the history of the program.
In his first season at the helm, Tegtmeier led the Vikings to a runner-up finish in their only season in the Central Intercollegiate Bowling Conference. With the 2020-21 season limited to head-to-head competition due to fears over COVID-19, he guided the team to a sparkling 23-5 record and a third-place finish at the CCIW Championships.
A 2018 graduate of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, Tegtmeier came to Augustana after serving as the head coach at Marion High School in Marion, Iowa during the 2018-19 school year. He has also spent six years as a youth coach and is working toward his United States Bowling Congress Bronze certification.
About Tegtmeier’s hiring, Zapolski said “I am eager to work with Seth to continue the efforts of building a strong small college women’s program. Coach (Marty) Resner put a solid foundation in place and Seth is extremely excited about the opportunity ahead.”
Owner of eight perfect games, Tegtmeier took up bowling at the age of three. As a senior at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa, he posted an average of 212, which ranked 40th in the state. He was a four-year performer and a team captain at St. Ambrose, where he helped the Bees to a Midwest Collegiate Conference championship in 2015, as well as a Boilermaker Classic title in 2017.
Tegtmeier earned his Bachelor of Arts from St. Ambrose in sports management with a minor in philosophy of ethics. Following his graduation, Seth worked as a teaching assistant at Bright Horizons pre-school in Iowa City, Iowa and is currently employed at Bank of the West in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He resides in Marion, Iowa.
