Marty Resner is entering his fifth season as the head coach of the Augustana women's bowling program. Resner, who helped launch the program in 2016, departed in 2019 after three years with the team and pivoted his focus towards his teaching career while pursuing a Ph.D. in education at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He volunteered as a coach at Waukee and Rock Island high schools before returning to Augustana ahead of the 2021-22 season to retake the reigns of the program he helped establish.
Resner holds a 78-105 record as head coach of the Vikings, most recently leading the team to 34 wins in the 2022–23 season, shattering the previous program high of 23 wins and earning CCIW Co–Coach of the Year honors.Â
A 2013 graduate from Augustana, Resner earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education to teach mathematics and was also a three-year letter winner as a member of the football team. Â
He continued his educational pursuits at Old Dominion University, earning a Master of Science degree in Sports and Recreation Management in 2017 before graduating with a Ph.D. in Education from Drake University in 2022.Â
Outside of his career at Augustana, Resner has coached a variety of sports at the high school level, including football, track and field, and bowling.
Resner will begin his 11th year instructing high school mathematics this coming fall.
Marty and his wife, Larissa, reside in the Quad City area with their son, Ira, and daughter, Valda.
