Shawn Williams

Shawn Williams joined Coach Jake Shaver's Augustana Men's Track & Field staff as an assistant coach in charge of throws in July of 2018. Williams brings to the Vikings eight years of NCAA Division I coaching experience, including four (2014-18) at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.
 
While at Illinois State, Williams was in charge of the Redbird throwers. He coached four Missouri Valley Conference champions and a pair of top-ten finishers at the NCAA Championships.
 
Prior to his time at Illinois State, Williams—a USA Track & Field Level I certified coach—had stints at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida and Troy University in Troy, Alabama, where he also served as Recruiting Coordinator. During a four-year span his athletes recorded two All-America performances, five conference championships and a total of nine school records.
 
Williams graduated from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon in 2005 with a degree in sociology. He was a four-time all-conference thrower for the Raiders after beginning his collegiate career at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
