David Lawrence rejoined the Viking coaching staff for the 2022 season as the Director of Player Performance. A graduate of Moline High School, Lawrence earned Illinois All-State honors his senior season. He graduated summa cum laude in 2012 from Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. During his senior golf season at EIU he was nominated for Capital One Academic All-American honors as he led the Ohio Valley Conference and set a school record for scoring (72.2) while winning two invitationals.
Lawrence turned professional in the fall of 2012 and has netted over 50 mini-tour victories in the United States and Europe. He set a course and tournament record at the 2015 Illinois Open shooting an opening round 62. In July of 2018 he earned his first start on the PGA Tour at the John Deere Classic. His latest victory was this past fall in the Iowa PGA section’s NB Golf Cars Shootout where he posted rounds of 66-64.
David brings a wealth of playing experience and knowledge of the game to this program. He is the teaching professional at top 100 Davenport Country Club and is the founder and lead coach of the Red Zone Golf Academy. His ability to quickly assess a player’s swing and adjust it to achieve maximum results is a strength that few players or coaches have. “We’re going to utilize state-of-the-art technology to create individualized practice plans for every player” he said. “I have a passion to coach high performing players that want to win championships!”
