Kyle Flores

Kyle Flores was hired as the head coach of cross country and assistant coach of track & field for the Augustana Vikings in August of 2023.

Prior to Augie, Flores spent six successful seasons at Pomona-Pitzer in Claremont, Calif., including the last two as the head men’s cross country and track & field coach. While there, Flores helped guide the Sagehens to win back-to-back NCAA Division III National Championship titles for men’s cross country, one has their head coach in 2021 and one as an assistant in 2019. After Flores took over, he was named the 2021 NCAA DIII National Cross Country Coach of the Year, along with back-to-back West Region Coach of the Year (2021, 2022), and back-to-back SCIAC Coach of the Year (2021, 2022) honors.

Along with winning national championships, Coach Flores has coached 22 All-Americans, 10 Program Record Holders, 40 All-SCIAC honorees, 24 USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees, and the former DIII Steeplechase Record holder, Colin Kirkpatrick.

Notable athletes that have trained under Flores have included Colin Kirkpatrick and Bennett Booth- Genthe. Kirkpatrick is a 3x NCAA All-American between cross country and steeplechase who held the NCAA DIII Steeplechase Record with a time of 8:41.92. Booth-Genthe is a 2x NCAA All-American and the runner-up in the 2023 Indoor National Mile race with a time of 4:03.64.

Before coaching, Flores competed at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, where he obtained his B.S. in Clinical Exercise Science. There Flores was 3x All-GLIAC and ran on three DII national cross country teams where the team finish 2 nd , 2 nd , and 4 th respectively. Kyle is originally from Carol Stream, Ill. and now lives in the Quad Cities. Kyle enjoys visiting family on the weekends whenever he can and camping with friends. Hobbies include running, Super Smash Bros, and playing card games. Flores will lead the distance program during the track & field seasons.
