ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's golf teams sit in first after the opening day of the Highland Championship. The men's team sits one under par with a first-round score of 287, while the women are three strokes ahead of Millikin in second with a round score of 316. 

Anis Rezzoug leads the event in first place after shooting four under par for a round score of 68. Aiden Salcedo and Melvin Minz followed in a tie for third, two strokes behind, for a score of 70 and two under par. Alex Thery shot even on the day for a score of 72 and sits in a tie for eighth, along with Jacob Brokaw and Trey Hubner. Calvin Short and Camden Flack secured top-20 spots in a tie for 16th after shooting 73 on the day. 

On the women's side, Madison Barnes is on top of the leaderboard with a round score of 75 to sit just three over par. Riley Kinsella follows in fourth after shooting 78 on the day, and Sarah Bond sits in a tie for sixth with a score of 80. Kami Jarvill shot an 82 on the day to sit in a three-way tie for 11th, and Lydia Hall clinched 14th with a score of 83.

The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow for day two of the event at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
