STERLING, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings conquered the Carroll Pioneers on Friday by a score of 4-3.

The Vikings claimed all three doubles matchups to take the early 1-0 lead. Anna-Maria Huebel and Colleen Larry took the top spot by a score of 7-5. Maripaz Ramirez and Estefania Alejandra Casillas Velasco earned a 6-2 victory in the second battle, while Kassidy Anderson and Analia Pazmino Cedeno secured the third slot 7-6.

In singles action, the Pioneers took the top two matchups, but Augie followed with three wins. Velasco forced extra sets at No. 3 with scores of 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 and Larry claimed No.4 with scores of 6-1 and 6-4. Cedeno earned the final victory for the Vikings at No. 5 with scores of 6-3, 6-2 before Carroll snatched the final matchup.

With the win, Augie improves to 3-1 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in conference play. The Team will be back in action on Sunday to battle Carthage.
