DECATUR, Ill. - After opening conference play with a win on Saturday, Augustana women's tennis (2-1, 2-0) faced another CCIW opponent on Sunday when they visited Millikin (3-4, 0-2). Millikin could do little to slow the Vikings down as Augie steamrolled their way to a 7-0 win.
How it Happened
Doubles
Augustana first and second doubles teams both took care of business, with Anna-Maria Huebel and Colleen Larry winning the No. 1 matchup 6-2 while Maripaz Ramirez and Estefana Alejandra Casillas Velasco shutout their opponents 6-0 in the No. 2 matchup. The No. 3 doubles match was much closer, but Kassidy Anderson and Leah Kitterman pulled through for Augie, 7-5.
Singles
Moving to singles events, Ramirez hung on to win the No. 1 match in three sets. Velasco also took three sets to defeat her opponent in the No. 3 match, having to come back from a 1-0 deficit to do so.
Meanwhile, Huebel, Larry, Analia Pazmino, and Sofia Carr all took two sets to win the No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 matches.
