Men's Tennis 2025-26 Season Review

The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team posted an 11-11 overall record during the 2025-26 season, finishing with a strong 5-2 mark in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) competition. The Vikings earned six victories at home and advanced to the semifinals of the CCIW Tournament, while collecting a fourth place finish in conference standings.

Following a pair of individual fall tournaments, Augustana competed at the ITA Regional Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where each Viking participant recorded at least one victory. In doubles action, Jorge Marcelo Escribano and Aingeru Garcia Acebo advanced past Rose-Hulman with an 8-3 opening-round victory before falling to the No. 9-seeded duo from the University of Chicago. In singles play, Marcelo Escribano, Saman Rezaeyan, Santiago Lazo, and Santiago Diaz each secured victories before seeing their tournament runs end against seeded opponents. Rezaeyan earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Hanover, Marcelo Escribano recorded a pair of 6-4 victories against Wooster, Lazo advanced past Earlham, and Diaz battled to a three-set victory over Otterbein.

The Vikings opened dual competition with consecutive victories, defeating MSOE 5-2 before sweeping Southwestern Illinois by a score of 7-0. Augustana faced a challenging stretch against some of the region's top programs, dropping matches against Chicago, Kalamazoo, and Coe before rebounding with a 6-1 road victory over Central on March 14.

Augustana competed in a challenging spring break slate in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, earning a 7-0 sweep over Lawrence while facing several nationally competitive opponents throughout the week. The Vikings opened conference play against Carthage before beginning a strong stretch in league action, earning victories over Elmhurst, Wheaton, Millikin, Illinois Wesleyan, and Carroll to finish the regular season with a 5-2 CCIW record.

The Vikings earned a 5-2 road victory over Wheaton on April 11, before narrowly falling to North Central in a 4-3 battle the following day. Augustana responded with three consecutive CCIW victories, defeating Millikin and Illinois Wesleyan by identical 6-1 scores before taking down Carroll 5-2. The Vikings closed the regular season with a 7-0 non-conference victory over Loras before falling to Luther.

At the CCIW Championships, Augustana earned a quarterfinal victory over Carroll by a score of 4-1 before seeing its season come to an end in the semifinal round against Carthage, falling 4-1.

Following the conclusion of the season, Santiago Diaz was named to the CCIW All-Conference First Team. Saman Rezaeyan was also recognized for his accomplishments both on the court and in the classroom, earning a spot on the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
